We do not have space to show all our engines in steam,
but here are some other items from our collection:
This compound engine (made by Ashworth and Parker of Bury, Lancashire) is outdoors at present. Intended to drive an electrical generator, it is similar to (but bigger than) our in-house generating set. As you can see, it needs a paint job!
Photograph - Ashworth and Parker compound engine
This engine (about ten horsepower) was donated by the Bahamas Locomotive Society. It is of the type used to power a small workshop and is thought to be from Jackson’s Rope Works at Glossop in Derbyshire. The engine has been dismantled, cleaned, painted and re-assembled. It is now shown in the Whitelees Beam Engine Room.
