Norman was a joiner and carpenter by training and used those skills at Ellenroad on such jobs as rebuilding the doors and frames in the archive room
and store rooms. He was often up on the roof, even in bad weather and in spite of his poor health. He did the initial survey that led to getting
the Architect involved with an emergency repair bid.
As his involvement progressed he became more interested in the boiler feed pumps and sprinkler pumps and worked closely with Verner Bending and John
Fitton in the Pump room.
Later in life he had retrained in care work and become General Manager of a Care Home in Clitheroe where he worked until bad health forced him to take
early retirement. He maintained his connection by becoming an active Trustee of the Care facility.
He was one of the signatories to our application for Charity Commission Registration.
